What’s new at 1EID 2022!

• 1Eid’s Annual Quran Competition!

Following the success of our Eid competition, we will be hosting our first annual Qiraat competition! Prizes will range from a luxury gift hamper, Quran Legacy Gift box, or one of the many other prizes we will be listing insha’Allah.

CRITERIA:

Tajweed Rules (80%)

• Articulation and Characteristics of the letters (Makharij and Sifat)
• Tarqeeq (thinness) and tafkheem (thickness, fattening) of letters
• Izhaar (making clear) or Ikhfaa( hiding) of sound, in saakin letters
• Application of QALQALA
• Stop and the Start (Waqf & Ibtida)
• Gentleness or firmness of sound
• Fluency (sur’at) or paused prolongation (taraakhee) of mushaddad letters
• Brevity (qasr) of sound or elongation (madd)

Aesthetic Sound and Performance (20%)

• Melodiousness (Qira’at)
• Vocal Expressions
• Control of sound
• All recitations must be performed in Imam Asim Al Hafs style

QIRAAT COMPETITION GUIDELINES

– 5 YEARS TO 10 YEARS

1. Recite from any Surah or any portion from Juz Ammah stating the Surah name
2. Recitation must be limited to 3 minutes
3. Recite from memory or a copy of the Quran
4. No extra points for longer Surahs or more difficult rukus
5. No extra points for memorization

– 11 YEARS TO 17 YEARS

1. Recite from any Surah or any portion from the Quran stating the Surah name and Aayah Number
2. Recitation must be limited to 3 minutes
3. Recite from memory or from a copy of the Quran
4. No extra points for longer Surahs or more difficult rukus
5. No extra points for memorization

– 18 YEARS TO 25 YEARS

1. Recite from any Surah or any portion from the Quran stating the Surah name and Aayah Number
2. Recitation must be limited to 3 minutes
3. Recite from memory or from a copy of the Quran
4. No extra points for longer Surahs or more difficult rukus
5. No extra points for memorization
