The 7th annual Islamic Arts Festival took place on the 5th and 6th of December, 2020. The art show was held entirely online this year due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
The Islamic Arts Festival featured an online art mall, displaying artwork from over 60 artists. Visitors were able to literally walk through the gallery to view art in a museum like environment and buy magnificent artwork from the comfort of their homes. There were live interactive sessions on calligraphy, henna tattoo, Ebru and painting. Visitors watched in awe as master artists and calligraphers transformed random brush strokes into beautiful art
The Honorable Mayor of Houston inaugurated the festival which was attended online by thousands of visitors from all the United States and Canada. There were workshops on calligraphy, henna, geometric art and a children’s program as well. The festival featured short videos showing how Islam encourages the pursuit of art and beauty in our daily lives as well as a panel discussion “Seeking Solace in the Beautiful: The Spirit of Islamic Art” featuring eminent scholars of Islamic art in North America
