Description:
Often, we looked past the importance of adab in seeking knowledge or even in our daily lives. It’s not just about having a good akhlak with the elderly but there are so many aspects of adab that affects our daily lifestyle.

We also used to hear our ulama’ saying things like “Knowledge that is not filled with Barakah, won’t stick throughout our lives” or “Learn Adab first before seeking knowledge” – but how does all this play a part in our lives?

Why is it important to learn about adab?

In one of the hadiths, Prophet s.a.w. mentioned that one of the main purposes for his appointment as a prophet is to perfect the moral character of the people = Adab.

Prophet Muhammad s.a.w said: “I was sent to perfect good character.” [Sahih Muslim]

The Prophet s.a.w also said: “The most perfect/complete believers in faith is he who is the best of them in
manners.” [Sunan At-Tirmizi]

Based on these 2 hadiths, we are excited to explore with you, how we can further enhance our adab while living our everyday lives. By referring to the contents of the Quran and the sayings of the Prophet s.a.w on Adab or good character, we will find that morality is highly regarded in Islam.

Here are the topics that will be covered throughout the series:

Week 1 – 30th January 2024

– Significance of Adab in our daily lives

– Adab in our relationship with Allah

Week 2 – 2nd February 2024

– Respect for parents

Week 3 – 13th February 2024

– Cultivating adab in the presence of children

Week 4 – 20th February 2024

– Adab when visiting: Normal visit & visiting the sick

Week 5 – 27th February 2024

– The significance of adab in seeking knowledge and with teachers

Week 6 – 5th March 2024

– Adab embracing Ramadhan

Venue : Online (Zoom)

  • Registered participants will be invited into the Zoom session.
  • Do download Zoom.us on your device if you have not done so.
  • Do check your email for the link 4 hours before the session start.

Day/Date : Starting on Tuesday, 30 January 2024 (Session is on every Tuesday)

• Total of 6 weeks

• Time : 8:00pm to 9:30pm

• 1.5 hours of weekly session (lesson + Q&A)
