Description:

Ethiopian art exhibition on Thursday, September 29 at 10-11:30 a.m.

The epic story of King Solomon and the Queen of Sheba is found in each of the Abrahamic traditions – Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. The tradition is also part of the national identity of Ethiopia. Thanks to a generous donation facilitated by the late Harold “Hal” Buckingham, an HIU Ambassador, we have received a painted vellum scroll of the Ethiopian story of Solomon and Sheba. Come and view this painting and learn about this fascinating tradition in a presentation by Dr. David D. Grafton, Professor of Islamic Studies and Christian Muslim Relations. The scroll is displayed in the Budd Interfaith Building.
