Description:

UNC-Chapel Hill students, faculty, and staff are invited to join us for the Carolina Seminar on Middle East Studies, organized by Dr. Sarah Shields in conjunction with her course, “HIST 276: The Modern Middle East.” Each lecture features a guest expert on contemporary events.

Claudia Yaghoobi is the Roshan Institute Associate Professor in Persian Studies and director of the Persian program in the Department of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies. Yaghoobi is a scholar of literary criticism, comparative literature, gender and sexuality studies, diaspora and border studies, transnationalism, and cultural studies.
