Abstract

These presentations will begin with a consideration of the features of postmodernism (the 1950s->) and how it differs from modernism (1860s-1950s). The discussion will then consider evolving Qur’anic exegesis in Malaysia and Indonesia in the postmodern era, taking account of leading scholars and their works and the extent to which this scholarship reflected or responded to emerging postmodernist thinking, either positively or negatively.
