Description:

On a daily basis, millions of vulnerable people across the world are forced to live the winter months without access to the bare essentials to provide them with warmth and comfort.

Imagine starting your day without access to any hot water to shower with or perform wudu, with no electricity, gas, or even firewood to heat up some water for a cup of tea or coffee. Imagine not being able to eat a single hot meal throughout the cold, harsh day and not having enough winter clothing to keep you warm. And then at the end of the day, you’re forced to sleep on the cold, hard ground, without a blanket to wrap yourself in. This is the reality for refugees, for people who are internally displaced, and for families living in poverty.

We want you to take part in the Cold Day challenge, to help raise awareness about the hardships faced by millions of people across the world during the winter months, and to help raise funds so that we can provide them with the essential aid that they need.

The funds you raise will help us provide them with aid like:

  • Winter Blankets
  • Food
  • Winter Clothing Packs
  • Firewood Or Fuel For Cooking And Heating

This winter, Islamic Help is distributing winter aid in Yemen, Afghanistan, to Syrian and Palestinian refugees in Jordan and Lebanon, as well as in Bangladesh, the Rohingya refugee camps, and Pakistan.

To take part in the challenge, all you need to do is go one day without the comfort and immense luxury of heat. That means you’re not allowed to use the following things for a full 24 hours:

  • No Hot Water For Showers, Wudu, Washing Your  Face And Hands, etc.
  • No Central Heating / Electric Heaters
  • No Cooker / Oven / Microwave / Air Fryer or any cooking appliance that uses heat
  • No Kettle
  • No Specific Winter Clothing (jumpers, boots, winter jackets, gloves, winter scarves, etc.)
  • No Hot Food Or Drink
  • No Heavy Winter Blanket

We know that for many of you who are reading this, you’d much rather climb a mountain than sign up for such a grueling challenge however the Cold Day challenge reflects just 1 day in the life of a vulnerable person, forced to survive the winter months without the bare essentials. To take part in the Cold Day challenge, please register here. Once you have completed the registration process, a member of our team will be in touch with you to help create a fundraising page and guide you further.

You can help us raise more awareness and funds by encouraging your friends to also take part in the challenge, please share this event with them.
