74 Queen St W – Brampton – Canada
In recent years, the rise of the internet and social media has provided a platform for both positive interaction and harmful rhetoric. Unfortunately, Islamophobic comments can often be seen online, perpetuating stereotypes, misinformation, and hate speech. In this session speakers will share what policy changes are needed in Canada to effectively counter online hate and racism towards Muslim communities. We’ll hear from Muslim community and policy experts as they share their experiences, emerging research evidencing the severity of the issue, and promising public policy solutions.
This event is open to all individuals who are interested in understanding and addressing the issue of Islamophobia online. Whether you are a student, educator, activist, religious leader, policy maker, or concerned citizen, your presence and participation are vital to advancing this important conversation.
This is a free event open to the public. It will take place in-person and will be streamed online at the same time. Please register based on whether you intend to attend at the Brampton location or online. Details about how to access the space and the Zoom link will be emailed to registered attendees 24 hours in advance of the event.
Attendees will be able to submit questions during the event and a selection will be answered by the speakers during the latter half of the event.
We are committed to hosting an inclusive and accessible event for everyone. Live captioning will be provided. When registering, please mention if you require any accommodations.
