Have you ever been in this position? With news and information centering our modern world, it’s impossible to resist the urge to share it with everyone you know.

Just like that, misinformation spreads like wildfire. Lies, betrayal and deceit are easily shareable. Or Instagrammable, if that’s what you prefer. We need to be wary and careful about what news we choose to spread and whether it’s credible or otherwise.

Because without us knowing, we will be complicit in spreading fitnah and we have to be held accountable for our actions in the akhirah.

Allah (s.w.t.) mentioned in the Qur’an,

Beware of the fitnah that will not only affect the wrongdoers among you and know that Allah (s.w.t.) is severe in punishment.
(Al-Anfal, 8:25)
