Description:

The public lecture is held in collaboration with the College of Islamic Studies, Hamad Bin Khalifa University, and the Islamic Shari’ah Research Academy (ISRA). It is generously supported by the Qatar Financial Centre Authority.

The public lecture is designed to advance scholarship in Islamic finance and to strengthen collaboration, learning and innovation amongst economists, lawyers, sharia scholars and regulators.

The event is organised by Dr Jonathan Ercanbrack (senior lecturer in transnational financial law and chair of the CIMEL at SOAS University of London) in collaboration with Dr Amel Makhlouf (research associate at SOAS University of London and member of the CIMEL).

As a guest speaker, Mr Richard Thomas will explore the role that Islamic economic principles can play in establishing a system of financial management that can accommodate Islamic Banking and Finance, and other ethical and green finance models without succumbing to banking failures and global financial instability.

The public lecture will be moderated by Dr Jonathan Ercanbrak (SOAS, University of London).

A reminder will be sent to you prior to the event.

The event will last 2 hours. There will be an opportunity for Q&A and general discussion.
