For many Muslim women, the rulings regarding menstruation, postpartum bleeding, and abnormal bleeding discharge can be confusing. Unfortunately, there are also many taboos and cultural misconceptions about these issues in the Muslim community. To know what is a true menstruation versus abnormal bleeding is important in order to fulfill acts of worship such as purification, prayer, reading the Qur’an, fasting, hajj, reaching puberty, marital relations, divorce, waiting period after divorce, and others. This knowledge is essential obligatory (fard ‘ayn) knowledge for all women.

This is a weekend course on the essential rulings of menstruation and abnormal bleeding, and will cover the Four Schools of Law in Islam. The course will also include a special Q&A session where students will have the opportunity to ask their personal questions. The class will be taught by Dr. Sh. Haifaa Younis who is an American Board Certified Obstetrician and Gynecologist. She will bring both her medical training as well as Islamic knowledge to enable students to confidently and correctly understand and apply the rulings of menstruation to benefit themselves as well as others. This course is a compilation of many books and has been specifically designed by Dr. Sh. Haifaa Younis.

Aishah (RA) said, “They [women of Ansar] do not allow shyness to prevent them from asking questions about the religion and seeking to understand it.” [Muslim]
