Description:

NG Islamic Speakers Bureau: Getting to Know Muslim Americans and their Faith

Getting to Know Muslim Americans and Their Faith, one of ING’s core presentations, provides an introduction to Muslims and their faith as Muslims actually believe in and practice Islam today in all its diversity. This is a virtual presentation for Southeast Community College.

After introducing some of the basic terminologies that Muslims use, the speaker will address Muslim demographics in the world and the United States, Muslim history in the U.S., including notable Muslim Americans today, Muslim traditions, common misconceptions and stereotypes about Muslims, and end with Muslim views on pluralism and Islam’s relationship to other faiths, including Judaism and Christianity.

Throughout the presentation, the speaker will entertain questions and have a discussion with the audience.

Speaker: Ameena Jandali (bio)
