Description:

What Is The
Hadith Intensive?

This Hadith Intensive is an introductory study that exposes students to foundational and critical concepts of the hadith sciences through unanimously accepted and renowned texts.
This intensive includes a general survey of hadith collections to help students nurture their faith, deepen their religious understanding, and increase their love for the Beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). This is the perfect opportunity to begin or continue the journey of learning Hadith and understanding our prophetic traditions.

Join us either– in person or online – to explore the treasures of our prophetic traditions from May 23 – 26th, 2024.

Introduction to Hadith

This class is an introduction to the comprehension of primary religious sources in their original language and forms the basis of one’s ability to interpret, analyze, and apply Islam’s holy texts. A discussion of the grammar and vocabulary included in each hadith will be accompanied by a lesson on the hadith’s meaning and a discussion of its application in our place and time.

Hadith Terminology

This course is an introduction to the sciences of Hadith. Students will be introduced to the methodology of the scholars of hadith in authenticating and categorizing reports. They will also learn the various terminologies used by them.

Sciences of the Hadith

This course consists of several religious scholarly disciplines used by Muslim scholars in the study and evaluation of the Islamic hadith—i.e. the record of the words, actions, and the silent approval of Prophet Muhammad SAW. Classification of a hadith is based upon the chain of narration, context, the strength of the narrators, number of narrators, etc. This course covers the very basic definitions pertaining to the classification of the hadith. The student will be able to comprehend the basic and common terminology used to classify hadith upon completing this course.

Hadith Literature

As an introduction to Hadith literature, students will examine the Arbain al-Nawawi (Nawawi’s 40 Hadith). With the help of the instructor students will memorize and learn to interpret the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings upon him and his family).

Proofs of Prophethood

Some of the greatest and most convincing testimonies to the prophethood of Muhammad ﷺ are the multiple occasions on which he correctly predicted future events. Only one to whom God had granted access to the realm of the unseen could have, time and again, accurately foretold the future.

In this class, a description of these predictions—all derived from Qur’anic verses and authentic hadith—and how each and every one of them came to pass, just as he ﷺ predicted will be reviewed.
