Description:
CCMS is holding an art exhibition and reception in honor of Islamic History Month.

About this event

CCMS is holding an art exhibition and reception in honor of Islamic History Month. Our theme is Healing Together: Overcoming Anti-Indigenous Racism and Islamophobia.

The diversity of Muslim art and cultural practices are not often highlighted or celebrated. This exhibition and reception will showcase art from Muslim artists across the Lower Mainland, ranging from illustration, to sculpture, to poetry, to painting. Through artistic expression, we explore healing in the face of anti-Indigenous racism and islamophobia. What does healing look like across space and culture? What work can we do in our communities to heal from the impact of bigotry and hatred? How can our communities center healing as a practice?

This event is in two parts:

Exhibition: 11 am – 5:30 pm. Drop by anytime to view the artwork on display. Registration not required.

Reception: 6 pm – 7:30 pm. Meet with the artists, celebrate their work, and enjoy dinner together. You MUST register to attend the reception. Eventbrite registration is for reception ONLY.

Date: Thurs. Oct 28

Location: SFU Harbour Center 1400-1430

*Masks are required.
