Join us for a holiday interfaith panel discussion on a series of covenants and treaties the Prophet of Islam, Muhammad, made with Christian communities throughout the Middle East, which guaranteed Christians and Muslims the freedom to practice their respective religions in peace and security. The rediscovery of these covenants is arguably the most significant development in Christian-Muslim relations since the Second Vatican Council’s Nostra Aetate. In keeping with the Quran, sayings of Muhammad, and the Constitution of Medina, the covenants with Christians require Muslims to observe and defend the rights of Christians and protect their churches and monasteries until “the day of judgment and the end of the world.” Likewise, the Christian communities addressed also promised to observe and defend the rights of Muslims. ING is pleased to welcome Dr. John Andrew Morrow, author of The Covenants of the Prophet Muhammad with the Christians of the World, and Dr. Sister Marianne Farina, associate professor at the Dominican School of Philosophy and Theology, to speak on the covenants in history and how they can help facilitate peace and fellowship between Christians and Muslims in our own time.

For educators, ING will be providing a lesson plan for your classroom after the webinar.
