Join YPIA and the Green Olive Collective for an online tour and discussion about the most interesting and contested city in the world: Jerusalem. Beginning at what many believe to be the center of the world – the exquisite Dome of the Rock – we will explore the religious, cultural, and historic importance of this iconic landmark. Is it really at the heart of an ancient conflict between Muslims and Jews? Moving east from the center of the old city we’ll see neighborhoods of Israeli and Palestinian Jerusalemites and understand better the shocking differences and striking similarities in how they live. The tour will finish at the infamous wall – called variously the Separation Barrier, the Security Fence, or the Apartheid Wall by different people – and we will lead a discussion about its influence on the rights of the people in this fascinating city and beyond.
Your host is Yahav Zohar; an expert tour guide, activist, writer, researcher, and founding partner in the Green Olive Collective; a group of Israelis and Palestinians working together to educate people about the political realities on the ground here, end the Occupation, and ensure the future for all people in this land is based on democratic values and respect for human rights.
This 90-minute online event, including time for questions, is free to join but we encourage you to contribute whatever you felt the tour was worth at the end. https://contribute.greenolivetours.com
