You are on your feet, facing the qiblah. As you raise both hands in takbir, what’s the first thing that comes to your mind? Is it your pending tasks, your meal plan of the day—or Allah?

We can pray to Allah and admit that we do everything for His sake. But, if we fill our hearts with something else besides Him, that thing will take hold of the heart, and it will no longer be pure.

Allah mentioned in the Qur’an,

Only those who come before Allah with a pure heart [will be saved].

(Surah As-Shu’ara, 26:89)

Qalbun saleem, a heart that is pure, is a sound and healthy heart that has nothing in it but Allah. A heart that is sound lives for Allah, and everything that the limb does, will only be for His sake.

How is the condition of our heart?
