Description:
An intimate gathering to hold space for each other as Black Muslim Women. To create a container of safety, for connection and release.

As Black Muslim Women we experience racial prejudice and gendered Islamophobia from non-Muslim communities, and often face these similar prejudices from the wider Muslim community.

This means it is rare to find a ‘safe’ space where we can fully embrace our spiritual and cultural narratives and potential.

The Black Muslim Women Healing Collective is here to provide safe spaces with access to the needed heart-centered therapeutic practices and teachings rooted in a rich Islamic spiritual heritage. This will be done in a compassionate, non-judgemental, and non-directive environment that will meet the specific needs and experiences of the Black Muslim female identity.

Our monthly ‘ Healing Circles’ are the spaces needed to provide safe spaces to hear and be heard by our fellow Black sisters. This circle will be an opportunity to reflect on any conversations and themes that may have arisen through this month’s workshop:

These workshops serve as a basis to begin empowering us to heal from our trauma by equipping us with the necessary resources to heal. This is where the healing begins.

What to expect:

Each session will be shaped by those that attend but will involve:

  1. Qur’an recitation
  2. Breathing and somatic exercises
  3. Sharing and holding space for each other
  4. Dhikr and Dua

Please note that sharing is always optional.

To enable everyone to feel safe in this space, please ensure that you are in a private area where no one else can see or hear the other participants.

In order to ensure safety: You will be required to attend with your camera on. The host reserves the right to remove you from the session if you are unable to put your camera on.

Anything that is shared within the group remains private and stays within the group.

What to bring:

1. Your full present and authentic self !!!

2. Paper and pen to hand

3. Tasbeeh(Prayer beads)

The Healing circles are only for Black Muslim Women, please respect the spaces that we are trying to create for this community. It is not a BAME/ BIPOC/ Person of Colour/ Women of Colour/ Politically Black or Ally organization. It is specifically for Muslim women who identify as Black. Please do not sign up to join this session if you are not part of this community. If you wish to support the work please share it among any Black sisters that you feel would benefit. Thank you.

There are limited spaces for each healing session. If you are no longer able to attend please kindly release your space so we are able to offer it to a sister on the waiting list

N.B- We are working towards making these sessions as accessible as possible, if there are needs /concerns please do get in touch and we can work towards building a more accessible space.
