Do you realise how much Islam emphasises on one’s character?

Manners, etiquette, and character will always contribute more to our beauty than our physical appearance.

For Muslims, we have a special code of conduct that our Lord has given us, which lies within the Qur’an and the sunnah of our Prophet (s.a.w.). These two gifts are sent down to the ummah so we can beautify our character and treat those around us with kindness and compassion.

How blessed are we to have a concrete foundation that educates us how to conduct ourselves in both private and public settings?

For instance, Surah Al-Hujurat is a dedicated surah that encapsulates how Muslims should shape their akhlaq to lead a more peaceful society.

There is a verse in the surah where Allah (s.w.t.) reminds us,

“O believers! Do not let some ‘men’ ridicule others, they may be better than them, nor let ‘some’ women ridicule other women, they may be better than them. Do not defame one another, nor call each other by offensive nicknames…”

(Al-Hujurat, 49:11)
