“And indeed, those who disbelieve would almost make you slip with their eyes when they hear the message, and they say, “Indeed, he is mad”

[Qur’an 68:51]

In Islamic belief, the evil eye, also known as “Al-Ayn”, is not a power inherent in an individual, rather it is something that Allah allows certain people to possess temporarily.

Some of us can dismiss the fact that the evil eye even exists, however, it is very real and the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم said: “The evil eye is true. If anything could outdo the decree, it would be the evil eye.” (Muslim)

As Muslims, we are advised to take precautions and seek protection from the evil eye. We are taught that we should not envy or be jealous of others as it could lead to us developing a spiritual illness within our hearts that can lead to harmful intentions and actions. Unfortunately, in today’s society, we see that this is the case, and a substantial number of people are afflicted by the evil eye which can result to mental unstableness or even go as far as to leading to death.

Due to a lack of knowledge on this matter, there are misconceptions that arise between the evil eye and black magic or confusion as to whether it could just be a mental/physical health concern.

To learn more, join Islamic Help in an eye-opening and informative seminar where Shaykh Dr Abu Ibrahim will be providing you with practical steps and guidance from the Qur’an and Sunnah on how you can identify and protect yourself from the evil eye.

BRIEF TOPIC OUTLINE

  • What is Evil Eye?
