In this semester, participants of Arabic reading literacy (level 2) will learn the literacy of the sukūn (absence of a vowel on a letter), tanwīn (double fatḥah, kasrah, and ḍammah) and long vowels. In addition, instruction regarding the upright fatḥah, kasrah, inverted ḍammah, and an introduction to the qalqala (letters of “echo”) will be learned.
Course Prerequisites: This course is suitable for those with reading literacy of the fatḥah, kasrah and ḍammah on letters and words.
Learning Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to read the:
- sukūn (absence of a vowel on a letter)
- tanwīn (double fatḥah, kasrah, and ḍammah) and long vowels
- upright fatḥah, kasrah, and inverted ḍammah
- qalqala (letters of “echo”)
Course Material: In order to aid with your learning, you will be provided with course material and set assignments for application and practice.
Schedule: This course will be conducted live online. Each session will be 1 hour per week, from 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM MST) every Tuesday.
