Description:

Justin Jonesis Associate Professor in the Study of Religion at the Faculty of Theology and Religion, University of Oxford. He specialises in modern Islam, with particular reference to South Asia. He is currently working on a range of projects concerning Islamic family law and Muslim women and children’s rights. His published books and volumes include Shi’a Islam in Colonial India: Religion, Community and Sectarianism (2012); The Shi’a in South Asia: Religion, History and Politics (2014); Reformulating Matrimony: Islamic Marriage and Divorce in the Contemporary UK and Europe (2020)and Islamic Family Law in Europe and the Islamic World: Current Situation and Challenges (2021).
