Assalamu ‘alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,
Seeking Sakina will engage in a thematic explanation of the 18th chapter of the Qur’an, the Cave – surat al-Kahf. In the month of Ramadan, the month of the Qur’an, we will embark upon a journey of reflection and understanding of a chapter whose blessings have been mentioned in numerous ahadith (prophetic narrations). We are encouraged to make the recitation of surat al-Kahf a weekly practice on Jum’uah (Friday).
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Recite [al-Kahf] and sakina (tranquility) descends at the recitation or on account of the recitation of the Qur’an”
Insha’Allah, we will bring tranquility and blessings to our Ramadan by reflecting on the depth of meaning in the stories mentioned in the surah. From the lessons of loving surrender of faith in the story of the youth of the cave; to the perils of arrogance and the trials of wealth in the story of the man with two gardens; the secrets in the story of Khidr with Prophet Musa and the lessons of humility and perseverance in seeking knowledge; and finally the story of the king Dhul Qarnain and the lessons on power. By the grace of Allah ﷻ, a deeper understanding and implementation of the divine lessons in al-Kahf will allow us to reap tremendous benefits in the month of Ramadan by connecting with the Book of Allah with awareness and conviction and practicing it in our lives.
Join us this Ramadan for Seeking Sakina: Tafsir of Surah al-Kahf on Sundays at 2 – 4 pm with Shaykh Yasir Fahmy, starting March 16th at Al Falah Islamic Center .
