Newham Council is proud to mark Islamophobia Awareness Month which highlights the threat of Islamophobic hate crimes and showcases the positive contributions of British Muslims to society.
This year’s unified theme for Islamophobia Awareness Month is #TimeForChange
Join us for a film screening of the Emmy Award-winning documentary film, The Trials of Muhammad Ali, directed by American producer and director Bill Siegel.
The documentary covers the explosive crossroads of Ali’s life. When Cassius Clay becomes Muhammad Ali, his conversion to Islam and refusal to serve in the Vietnam War leave him banned from boxing and facing a five-year prison sentence. Ali’s choice of belief and conscience over fame and fortune resonates far beyond the boxing ring, striking issues of race, faith, and identity that continue to confront us all today.
There will also be a panel discussion where the audience will have the opportunity to ask questions hosted by Brother Hakim.
Admission is on a first-come, first-served basis – ONLINE BOOKING ONLY!
